According to AdWeek, a leading advertising publication, the day is not far when LivingSocial, the daily deals website might “be sold to a larger company or liquidated piece by piece by spring 2014”. The company faces competition from the experts in the field like eBay, American Express and AmazonLocal service. There was a time when LivingSocial was able to win confidence of Amazon.com who invested $175 million in it. But the venture did not go well and the huge e-commerce company wrote down the investment by $169 million.
Road and Track
One of the top automotive magazines in the industry for years, Road and Track has seen a plunge in advertising pages in the past five years. The ad pages for the magazine have gone down to 699 last year from 1,092 in 2008. This fall is accentuated with a drop of another 31 percent to 232 pages this year. Although the better performing stable-mate of Road and Track, the Car and Driver has a good size of audience of about 10.7 million, the sales slide of the two magazines has not escaped anybody’s attention.
