Olympus

Gone are the days of digital camera. The trend is shifting towards smartphones with lenses and chips that capture high-quality images. The digital camera market has seen a drastic decline of 18 percent in unit sales in 2012. Olympus with its 7 percent market share could hardly stand up against the market leaders Canon, Sony, Nikon and the overpowering attraction of consumers towards smartphones. The company is now focussing on increasing sales of SLR cameras due to the increased interest of people in high-end cameras.

Volvo

Although the company was never a giant manufacturer in United States, its market share has still declined to 0.3 percent. It competes with low end models made by BMW, Audi, Mercedes and mid-luxury models from large manufacturers like General Motors and Toyota. In the beginning of this year, Volvo sold about 19,571 vehicles. The company’s sales were not very impressive and were down by 8 percent compared to the overall market sales which rose almost 7 percent.
