An e-Commerce company in the U.S was puzzled when it was unable to acquire customers, despite having best deals, products and user interface (UI). By changing a single mandatory register button into optional, a user experience (UX) consultant improved the company's sale by 40 percent within a month and added $300 billion additional revenue within a year. Today, many Indian enterprises including IRCTC, a government entity with no competition, is aware of UX's importance and investing heavily in it to further increase the distance between themselves and competition. But tragically, few Indian organizations in digitally-driven hyper competitive domains like e-Commerce, banking, learning management system and healthcare, which will wither without customer loyalty, have not yet invested in UX. It might be slower, but optimistically there is a gradual paradigm shift towards UX.
Obsessed with Perfection
Sybrant was founded in 2007 as an outsource product development company. After realizing that success of these outsourced products relies on moulding them properly according to end-users, Sybrant's board members V. Thiyagarajan, Dr. Dinesh Patel and Prof. Vijay Kumar along with Hari Shankar, (Director-UX) decided to integrate design factors as well in 2009. Since in-depth research is the ultimate parameter for UX design, the Chennai-based company that is obsessed with perfection started delivering research-driven products. Forecasting that people would need their products on multiple channels, Sybrant created a ground-breaking trend in UX design conceptualization, development and implementation across multiple platforms. Thus Sybrant created significant impact in the markets in India, U.S. and European SME segment, despite heavy competition. Meanwhile, Sybrant's scrupulous pursuit for an expert with strong business background further progressed when Shankar. K, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, took over Sybrant's operations.
In the period of 2008-2010, Sybrant's resources expanded with first round of funding from a Utah-based Venture Company. Earning a stellar reputation as UX expert not only enabled the company to close numerous giants worldwide including a reputable IT enterprise and a multibillion dollar South Indian group, but also empowered Sybrant to successfully cross the mark of $1 million revenue in 2013. Acquiring such high-profile brands with challenging demands further honed the niche company's research-led design innovations.
