Sachin's 100 Centuries and India's Corruption Among Top Stories Of 2012

Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries
Among the top sports stories Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries was covered by TIME as ‘Another triumph for Sachin.’ It took the seventh spot. It said, “Cricket's greatest-ever batsman added yet another incredible achievement to his already endless list of accomplishments by becoming the first player in history to score 100 scores of 100 or more runs for his country." India turned euphoric on this occasion throwing the 1.2 billion people a celebrating party on March 16, on the day Sachin scaled another milestone while playing against Bangladesh. This did put forth the doubts people have regarding Sachin calling it quits from the game. However, the 39 year old legend is in no hurry to retire as he said in an earlier interview with TIME, as he still continues to enjoy the game. He said, “I believe in approaching my targets step by step, and don't look at the larger picture." Sachin Tendulkar is an icon for the game he represents with passion and integrity. It will feel like a moment of loss when he will leave the game, but until then there are new targets to reach and new records to make for this cricket champion.

These stories made the top stories in the world this year and also marked history with it, and they have moved the many million Indian’s in their own way.
