Nations That Taste the Bitter Feeling of Failure

3. Sudan:

Sudan, an Arab state in the Middle East and North Africa is third on the list of  world’s failed nations. The country faces large-scale insecurity in its political, social, and economic spheres because of extensive ethnic, religious, and political armed conflicts that prevail all throughout the country. The East African nation is still far-flung from stable since its independence in 2011 as around 655,000 people have been displaced because of fighting between the army and rebel groups. This country is home to the atrocious genocide in Darfur and got the worst possible scores for refugees, group grievances, factionalized elites, and external intervention.

4. South Sudan:

South Sudan is a landlocked country located in east-central Africa and part of the United Nations sub region of Eastern Africa. This nation emerges as the youngest country in the Failed States Index this year due to its “fragile” infrastructure, severe poverty, weak government, fraught relations with Sudan and heavy reliance on oil revenues. It has struggled to establish a functioning government since its declaration of independence in 2011. As per the study, it is said that the suspension of oil production further damaged this country’s economy. It also leads to rivalries and clashes that threaten peace between the neighbors. There are failures within the system of governance and lack of respect for the rule of law and human rights. Thus, South Sudan is relying on U.N. support since its liberation from Sudan.
