Meet Modi's 'Fantastic 4' PMO Team

Ajit Doval: Doval, an IPS officer from the 1968 batch of the Kerala cadre, is one of the rare Indian Police Service officers to have got a military honour, the Kirti Chakra. Ajit Kumar Doval, 69, former Director of Intelligence Bureau and now the newly selected National Security Adviser in Narendra Modi’s government, is a well-regarded figure in the secret world of Indian intelligence system.
Doval is treated as a legend in the secretive world and covert operations. As a mid-level Intelligence Bureau officer in the north-east, Doval infiltrated the underground Mizo National Front, and sidelined half a dozen of its top commanders forcing its leader, Laldenga to plead for peace. The Mizo agreement of July 1986 after 20 years of insurgency was propelled largely by Doval's initiative.
Bharat Lal: Bharat Lal, an Indian Forest Service officer, served as the Gujarat's Resident Commissioner in Delhi before being inducted as joint secretary in the PMO. Lal who is said to play a vital role in the modi office, will hold the job of press contact in PMO by receiving and sending out press notes. But it is unlikely that Lal will be the media spokesperson, deciding what to put out in media. Lal who has worked closely with Modi was given the task of building relationships with the city's political, diplomatic and business circles in Gujarat and he had delivered the goods for Modi. He was also instrumental in bringing in some big industrial investments to Gujarat, including car maker Suzuki Motors. Some of the others bureaucrats Modi may bring from Gujarat include the state's public relations officer, Jagdish Thakkar, and Hiren Joshi, who handled Modi's social media outreach.
