In the Wall Street Journal and Heritage Foundation's Index of Economic Freedom, Hong Kong has been ranked as the world’s freest economy and it still is at the top of Index Rankings for the 19th consecutive year. Its economic freedom score is 89.3. However, the increased government spending in Hong Kong has led to 0.6 point lowering in its score from last year.

5. South Korea

Total Wealth: $265 billion

Population of UNHWI: 1,385

The economy of South Korea was very slow during 2012 due to market slowdowns in U.S., China and parts of Europe. However, the country now ranks at 15th in the world based on its nominal GDP and 12th based on its purchasing power parity. It is a member of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and is developed country.
