3) Anand Mahindra:
Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman and MD of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is also expected to have a good year in 2012. Pawan Goenka, President of Automotive and Farm Equipment Sector of M&M, said that 2012 is going to be good year for the auto industry. It was also said that M&M will register a 26 percent growth in the total vehicle sales in the first half of 2012. Also, the market share of utility vehicles has risen to 52 percent. Mahindra now has to reach this forecasted figure. Despite being one of the largest automobile manufacturers in India, Mahindra is concerned about the introduction of Chinese cars in the market next year. Mahindra needs to keep global competition in mind in order to achieve the sales figure. Since, MNCs are entering into the tractor segment too; Mahindra will have to address this competition as well. Hence, he has decided to launch the over 100HP tractor segment, a completely new segment for the company. Also, acquiring Ssangyong Motor was Mahindra’s way of integrating India and foreign operations.
