4) Chanda Kochhar:

Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO of ICICI Bank, is the only woman CEO to have made into this list. Kochhar is all set to escalate ICICI Bank as one of the Top 20 Banks of the World, by market value. This is a very ambitious dream on the part of Kochhar because presently ICICI Bank is not even present on the Top 50 Banks of the World. Despite the stagnation in growth in the banking sector, Kochhar is determined to bring ICICI’s name in the top banks of the world. The Current Account Savings Account (CASA) and unsecured loans have both gone down from 11 to 3 percent in the last few years. Also, the net Non-performing Asset (NPA) ratio has dropped from 2 to 0.9 percent and provisioning costs decrease from 2.2 percent to 80 basis points annually. There has been an increase in the number of branches from 1,300 to 2,500 in the past few years, with a coast-to-asset ratio of 1.7 percent. With all these factors in the favour of private banking sector, Kochhar is planning to get the bank a return-on-asset of 15 percent each year and also thinking of a strategy to provide long-term gains to her portfolio. Such ambitious plans and determination are something that has kept Kochhar on this list.
