#9 Froogle

Life Span: December 2002 – April 2007

Froogle is an internet marketplace launched by Google. A user can type product queries into it to get the lists of vendors selling a particular product, as well as the pricing information. This service made a good run after the launch. But later, the confusing name “Froogle” turned out to be an issue. So Google converted it into something new- Google Product Search.

 

#8 Google Video

Life Span: January 2005 – January 2009

Google Video was Google’s first video search engine. It indexed clips from all the websites. But with the launch of YouTube, the Google’s service began to fade. Because of this, the company acquired YouTube. Still it took three more years for Google to accept the defeat and in 2009, Google discontinued the ability to upload videos to Google's web servers. The site is still available without the video uploading facility.
