Neel Kashkari

Neel Kashkari, who oversaw the government's bank bailout in 2008, is running for the race as a Republican. Khaskari considers himself to be a moderate Republican and he’s stated that his platform is to focus on jobs and education, and not on social issues.

Kashkari might not have the most obvious resume to run for governor, but he has certainly got the biggest thing on his resume which is the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP)—the tool for distributing hundreds of billions of dollars to banks in the time of the economic crisis—which he helped create.

The Republican says that his job is a proof and he can handle tough tasks. The big question now is whether he can handle the three term governor and a state assemblyman Jerry Brown at the ballot box. Kashkari has no other government experience to claim other than this.
