2. Shanti Devi’s Reincarnation Story:

Soft spoken girl Shanti Devi, who was growing up in Delhi in the 1930s, alarmed everyone in her family by saying "This is not my real home! I have a husband and a son in Mathura! I must return to them!”  Shanti Devi, who claimed that her actual name was Ludgi in her past life, had shocked not only her parents but also the whole country. 

Shanti Devi used to narrate about her former family to anyone who would listen to her. One of her teachers at school, due to her repeated claims, sent a letter to the address Shanti gave as her "real home" in Mathura, inquiring about the fact. Astonishingly, the teacher soon received a reply from Shanti Devi's previous husband, admitting that his young wife Lugdi Devi had passed away some years ago, after giving birth to their son. The details Shanti Devi had given about her old house and members of her previous family were all confirmed. The case was later brought to the attention of Mahatma Gandhi who set up a commission to investigate and then the report was published in 1936.
