7 Indians Who Are Conferred With The Asia's Highest Honour



Satyajit Ray:

Satyajit Ray was a veteran filmmaker in India; whose movies are internationally acclaimed. Ray directed 36 movies in his career, in which Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Apur Sansar and The Apu Trilogy are notable. Ray received 32 Indian Film Fare Awards, an Honorary Academy Award in 1992; consequently he received Bharat Ratna in the same year and RMA in 1967.

M. S. Subbulakshmi:

M. S. Subbulakshmi was a legendary Carnatic music vocalist in India. Subbulakshmi was the first musician to be awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1998 and also the first Indian musician to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1974. Her hymns include Bhaja Govindam, Vishnu Sahasranama, Hari Tuma Haro and the Venkateswara Suprabhatam touched millions of spiritual souls in India.
