B. G. Verghese:

B. G. Verghese was a senior journalist and also information adviser to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi; however he lost his post for criticizing Indira during the emergency. Verghese served as the editor of The Hindustan Times and The Indian Express subsequently he received the RMA for his exceptional contribution to journalism in 1975.

Arun Shourie:

Arun Shourie was leading journalist and a politician, who worked as an economist at the World Bank, a consultant to the Planning Commission of India, editor of the Indian Express and The Times of India and a Minister in the Government of India. Shourie was known for his dynamic style of writing, for which he won numerous awards including The Freedom to Publish Award and RMA in 1982.
