Co-Founder, Director and VP-Global Strategy and Alliances

Dr. U. Srinivasa Rangan is the co-founder, Director and VP-Global Strategy and Alliances at GLOPRE IMS. In his current role in the company, he is responsible for overall strategy of the company and forging alliances. He also holds the Lukšić Chair Professorship in Strategy and Global Studies at Babson College in the United States.
Dr. Rangan brings over 30 years of Industry, Academic, Teaching, Research and Management experience in the areas of Competitive Strategy, Economic Development, Globalization and Strategic Alliances. His current research deals with the globalization of Indian, Chinese, and Brazilian companies, their use of acquisitions and alliances, evolution of industries and firm-level strategies, and the impact of national business systems on them.
Prior to co-founding GLOPORE IMS, Dr. Rangan served as a manager in industrial and international finance with the State Bank of India and England. He also held research and faculty positions at IMD, Harvard Business School, and Tulane University. He also worked with Professor Michael Porter of HBS to advise the Indian government on the economic development policies to pursue to ensure national competitiveness following the government’s decision in the 1990s to liberalize the economy.
Dr. Rangan is also the co-author of two books; Strategic Alliances: An Entrepreneurial Approach to Globalization, HBS Press, 1995 and Capital Rising, Palgrave Macmillan, 2010. His first book was named one of the to p30 business books of the year in 1996 in both the U.S. and Europe. He holds M.Sc. in Physics from University of Madurai, India, M.Sc., in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science, MBA from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland and PhD from Harvard University.
