Yasser Arafat
The Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat served as the Chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization. He also was the President of the Palestinian National Authority.  He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 along with Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin at Oslo, Norway for their combined efforts in bringing peace and restoring normalcy in the Middle East. Arafat’s critics went ahead and condemned the award, labeling him a terrorist with long record of promoting violence.  Arafat winning the Nobel Prize has been one on the most controversial subject’s in its history.

Theodore Roosevelt
1905 was marked by the dreadful outbreak of war between Japan and Russia, which was construed by the 26th American President Theodore Roosevelt. He became the mediator between the two enraged nations acting as the forerunner of peace. Teddy Roosevelt counseled the two countries to settle the dispute and negotiated conditions ensuring peace between them. In 1906 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his audacious efforts. However later he was also seen as a mediator in a dispute between France and Germany over the matter of Morocco’s distribution.
