Asahi Songwon Colors was started by Paru Jaykrishna in 1989.this company aims to manufacturing pigments, which are basically are colorants that is adds colour to everything around us, like ink, paints, plastics, textiles, rubber etc.
 
After Paru Jaykrishna got married to a family from Ahmedabad who managed a textiles business, she still wanted to create an identity of her own.

Later she set up her own company in 1989, which she named it as Aksharchem .the greatest challenges she faced was to raise capital, to source inputs and convincing buyers. Because of her “never give up attitude”; in 1996 in collaboration with Korean company, Asahi Songwon Colors was born. In 2011, its revenue was 230 crore. Paru says that "In my 20 years in business I have never had a single bad debt”.

Simultaneously she got into politics and became the first lady member to be elected in the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was its president in 2007.
