#4 Tamil Nadu: Tax Revenues: 2,73,400 crore ($46 billion): The southernmost state of India is one of the most industrialized state of the country. It has Chennai sea port, the most important port of India and contributes profoundly towards the revenue. It received the third largest investments from FDIin the country.

Tamil Nadu is one of the first states in India to have 100 percent metalled road connectivity. Apart from many heavy engineering and manufacturing based industries located in and around Chennai, it also has a flourishing traditional handicrafts industry.

#5 Karnataka: Tax Revenues: 2,52,600 ($42 billion): The southern state of India, Karnataka is the IT hub of India and is the fourth largest technological hub in the world. Karnataka has a well-developed telecom infrastructure and excellent health care facilities. The government of Karnataka offers a wide range of fiscal and policy incentives for businesses under the Karnataka Industrial Policy 2009-14. The state is referred to as India’s Silicon Valley.
