Top 10 Indian States for Economic Freedom



Karnataka
Karnataka has moved up on the list from its 13th position in 2009 to its 9th position in 2011 with an increase in its rating from 0.34 to 0.42. Karnataka is one of the states which shows a slight improvement. It is known as the best state for start-up industry. The state has turned into a manufacturing hub over the years. The Index also reflects the connection between economic freedom and the social well-being.

Kerala
Kerala is the tenth state on the list with a ratio of 0.42 which was 0.38 in 2005. Kerala has maintained its tenth position over the years and is showing a gradual improvement. On the parameter of ‘Legal Structure and Security -State Rating and Ranking’ Kerala has shown major improvement with reduced vacancy in the number of judges. The state also shows a considerable decrease in the number of economic offence cases.

As per the report the economic freedom from state to state varies significantly and the growth of the state is primarily associated with greater economic freedom.
