Mindblowing Stories Behind 10 World Famous Tech Logos
#8 Google:
The word Google is a math term which means 10100, but now the word made it to dictionary, which means ‘search’. Ruth Kedar , the design teacher at Stanford University designed the Google logo in 1999.
As the founder of Goole, Larry Page and Sergey Brin wanted a logo that conveyed that Goole is a search provider first and foremost and it offered fast, comprehensive and trustworthy search results. And though innovative, algorithmically complex; but is very simple to use.
The logo designed now incorporates something which seems playful and simple, and colors seem to evoke memories of childhood, and also some serendipity sweeping across search results. The font is Times New Romen, which was the internet choice of font at that time.
Though there were a lot of color iterations, Ruth ended up with primary colors, but instead of having pattern go in order, there is a secondary color on L, which indicates that Google doesn’t follow the rules, that it is genuine. And it’s quite fun to notice that letters O are slightly tilted.
The logo takes various modifications-- be it humorous features, like cartoons, or to indicate some holidays, birthdays of famous people, major events. These special logos are designed by Dennis Hwang and are famously known as Google Doodles.
