Dallas Deatley, Manager, Platform Security Team

What he does at Apple:

DeAtley spoke at last year’s Black Hat security conference, which also was a milestone in Apple’s career as the Cupertino giant made an official appearance in its 15 year history.

Deatley mainly deals in security built into the iOS, including “code signing”. He also needs to make sure that all the software that's downloaded to a device is coming from a trusted source. Deatley also deals in cryptography and other data protection tech.              

Matthew Murphy, Software Engineer

Year Joined: 2007

What he does at Apple:

Murphy helped create a security tech for the Mac App Store app review process, and has been "evangelizing security best practices throughout Apple's ecosystem.

Apart from this, Murphy also deals in reviewing and managing contacts between Apple and security researchers and Apple’s Root Certificate Program. Off late, Murphy has moved on to a new role, engineering at Apple’s iOS app, Passbook.

Background:

When Murphy was hired by Apple, ZDnet’s Ryan Naraine described the hiring as “an outspoken hacker who is credited with several major flaw discoveries” and called his hiring "a bit of a coup for Apple."
