3. Mallika Sarabhai:

Mallika Sarabhai, a talented personality, is a noted Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dancer. She has immensely contributed to various fields like acting, writing and publishing. She is a social activist and has participated in various socio-developmental projects including the ‘The Acting Healthy Project’ initiated by the United Nations. During the 2002 Gujarat communal riots, she worked with the victims. In 2009, she stepped into political scene by contesting independently in Gandhinagar, Gujarat against BJP’s supremo LK Advani and termed her candidature as a Satyagraha against the politics of hatred.

4. Dr. Shashi Tharoor:

Dr. Shashi Tharoor who had gained several experiences as an author, United Nations peace-keeper, refugee worker, human rights activist, is today a successful politician from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala. Currently, he is the Minister of State for Human Resources Development. Before joining politics, he was former UN under-secretary general. Tharoor was nominated by the Indian Government in 2006, for the post of UN Secretary General and came a close second behind Ban Ki-moon out of seven contenders in the race.
