2. Meera Sanyal:

Meera Sanyal, India's leading Banker and former country head of ABN Amro Bank, was an independent candidate in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from the Mumbai South constituency. She had contested against two strong contenders like Millind Deora (son of former petroleum minister Murli Deora) and Shiv Sena's Mohan Rawale. Although she lost her political battle, she had set a benchmark of the ‘new clean’ politician that many Indians aspired to vote for. She continues to serve the public domain by heading LiberalsIndia for Good Governance which is an Indian Liberal group, a nonprofit organization that offers a platform for likeminded Indian Liberals and Active Citizens to work towards improving the quality of life and state of Governance in India.
