IBM to Renew its Biggest Indian IT Contract, Faces Stiff Competition

And the story not only revolves around IBM, since the biggest IT vendor is facing stiff competition from its rivals.

“The domestic market opportunity for companies like IBM, Accenture and Capgemini are much bigger than they were 5-6 years ago. IBM is still the market leader in the domestic IT services market with a 12.5 percent share (the overall domestic IT market is pegged at 400 billion which is 40,000 crore), according to IDC), but that doesn’t mean that IBM is the only one dominating the domestic landscape,” said Nirupam Chaudhuri, research manager of software services at IDC.

Since last year IBM is on the path of realization after losing a strategic contract with British Petroleum to Accenture.

The whole world is watching as experts and outsourcing advisers have realized how big the deal is because there aren’t many opportunities of this size in India as well as in the global IT industry.
