Enterprise Software in 2013: 11 Predictions


Oracle will get out of some part of the hardware business:

Oracle has been struggling heavily in the hardware business since its high profile acquisition of Sun’s hardware business in 2010. The company has announced that their main focus is on its Exadata database machine and also has a very little interest on the server market.

 With 2013 rolling, we will be seeing signs of Oracle retreating a bit from the hardware market as the company have realized the hardcore fact that they are still a software company at heart.

SAP boosts HANA with big data buy and nomenclature shift:

We might get to see SAP acquiring an up-and-coming "big data" product or vendor, or at least one company that specializes itself in Hadoop and large-scale data processing. This move will surely strengthen SAP’S HANA in-memory database capabilities.
