Enterprise Software in 2013: 11 Predictions

Salesforce.com will move further into ERP:

Even though, Salesforce.com started within the cloud CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platform and later on moved itself into new platform categories, in reality, the company hasn’t yet made a great push in the ERP (Enterprise Software Platform) except for partnering with companies like Workday and Infor.

But the past year also saw the organization making a small step in the ERP platform by launching Work.com, a human resources application for managing employee performance. This surely can be interpreted as a sign from Salesforce.com to quench its craving thirst to get the bigger slice out of ERP and 2013 might be the right time where it fulfills.

Oracle and others will invest heavily in mobility and mobile middleware:

The year 2012 saw platforms like mobile applications deployment and designing becoming into much of main stream player in the enterprise software business. And also SAP has made much of its mobile middleware and device management software, which it acquired through the $5.8 billion acquisition of Sybase in 2010.

On the other hand, last year we saw Oracle admitting their lack of mobile development tools and this year we might get to see the software giant grabbing up two or three specialized companies to boost their business.
