Amazon Wants What Wal-Mart has in India

Amazon's global vice president, Paul Misener, had met Indian Trade Minister Anand Sharma in New Delhi, on Tuesday to discuss the issue, AFP reported on Wednesday."We talked about trying to find a better way to serve our Indian customers, both sellers and buyers", he said indicating a release of the ban on direct sales to customers. On whether Sharma has since made any commitment to change India's retail policy, the Amazon executive said; "The government of India has been very kind to Amazon.com and we continue to grow here."

With the advent of Amazon it is time for Indian online portals like Flipkart and Myntra to power up their efforts because the Indian government cannot resist an entity like Amazon forever and once they lift the ban and the blocks are released, the competition in the market will be neck to neck for these e-commerce platforms.
