How Midnight Food Startups Are Taking Their Way In India


“At odd hours customers don’t know where to go to when they want even an essential like a bottle of water, or a cigarette lighter. That is where a home delivery service comes in handy. You ask for ENO or noodles and we will be there,” says 27 year old Neha Jain who started Fly by Night in Mumbai, after leaving a high-paying job at Google India. If we are wondering what made her initiate this, Neha says that she wanted to do something of her own and so took the plunge.

Even doctors today are insisting on avoiding hunger at nights as it would lead to undesired effects. Dr. JC Suri who heads the department of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi says that Insomnia is ‘rapidly becoming a problem’ in this case. He states various reasons like 24 hour channels, IPL matches ending late night and staying late online as some of the reasons to this consequence.
