How Midnight Food Startups Are Taking Their Way In India


With a lot of thinking involved these startups have come to the front to value the needs of many Indians who badly require them. Another Mumbai based startup called Mad Bites feels that the concept is a challenging one as well as a profitable one as there is a huge ‘untapped market out there’.

Another startup called Take it That One which is based in Bangalore stopped its operations for some time and then came in back. According to its founder, Nikhil Malhotra, cigarettes and chocolates are mostly sold in the night time. Other food items include biryani, french fries, wafers and soft drinks. As the market is booming, even last minute order for birthday cakes are becoming a trend in business.

While this new midnight food delivery business is coming into the limelight, there are some concerns related to it. Startups are concerned about the safety of their delivery men while experts are worried about the unhealthy lifestyle led by people. Even youngsters who intend to study late at night due to pressure and competition are also facing health issues feels Dr. JC Suri.

Gurgaon based startup Batman Delivers takes food orders from 9 pm to 5 am. However, founder Raghav Negi says that they have to decline in spite of the demand they see, realizing the desperate need of this service in the city.
