Reliance Communications maintained its global position at eight. Reliance Communications is the flagship company of the Reliance Group. The company provides a wide range of mobile and fixed line telephone, internet and entertainment services. It includes broadband, national and international long distance services and data services. Reliance Mobile (earlier Reliance India Mobile), launched in December 2002 was one of the earliest endeavors of the company. Headed by Anil Ambani, the company had acquired 100 million customers by March 2010 and boasts of over 150 million customers now. Its BIG TV launched India’s first HD DVR Service in May 2010.It is also credited with launching India’s first “live chat “customer service initiative. The company spent External Commercial Borrowing of 1155 crore for 3G Spectrum Refinancing in January 2012.Reliance Communications saw a not so impressive June 2012 quarter performance. Its net sales saw an increase of just 0.2 per cent to 5, 319.2 crores as compared to the previous quarter. It also had a debt of 37, 838 crores. The company is trying to overcome the drag on its revenues arising from the telecom sector environment of high debt and low tariffs in which it operates and is expanding its operations. It is collaborating with Google to launch Android platform devices.
