DNA repair is a process by which a cell uses a series of special enzymes to repair mutations (changes) in DNA and restore it to its original state. The DNA is constantly mutating and in absence of a repairing mechanism which is controlled by special genes, it could be serious threat, in the form of physical and physiological abnormalities, and also results in complete destruction of normal coding in genome.

As DNA is known as blue print of an organism’s growth, the researches on it can enable you to tweak its design and be what you want to be. In future, Spiderman, X-men won’t be science-fiction anymore.

#5 Anti-Aging Enzymes

Aging is a cellular process, and according to new study, two enzymes SIRT3 and SIRT4 found in mitochondria are responsible for regulating aging process. According to researchers, drop in calorie intake triggers these two enzymes, activating mitochondria--which converts nutrients to energy, and rejuvenates itself.

So now aging can be viewed in different angle, considering it as decease than a natural process. These two enzymes hold the key for eternal youth and are being worked on now as drug targets, to slow down and possibly stop the effects of aging altogether.

So Elves won’t be just part of mythology or epic fiction anymore in the future.
