10 Rape Capitals of The World
India:
India, a developing country, is one such place where sexual assault is rapidly increasing. It has been described as one of India's most common crimes against women and a “national problem” by the UN’s human-rights Chief. As per the 2012 statistics, New Delhi has the highest number of rape-reports among Indian cities, while Jabalpur has the per capita incidence of reported rapes. Sources revealed that rape cases in India have doubled between 1990 and 2008. As per the latest estimates, a new case of rape is reported every 22 minutes in India. But, to some extent the Delhi gang rape case has awakened many to demand for stringent law against the perpetrators.
Canada:
Canada, a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations. Ironically, in a nation headed by a Queen, many cases of sexual assault towards women have come across. It is reported that one of every 17 Canadian women has gone through the torture of rape in her life. A woman is sexually assaulted by forced sex in every 17 minutes in Canada. Girls and young women between the ages of 15 and 24 are the main victims. Around 70 percent of rapes are committed by a perpetrator who knows the victims (relative, friend, neighbour, colleague, or other acquaintance). But, unfortunately just 6 percent of the total rape cases are reported.
