4 Mohammad Shahabuddin
Mohammad Shahabuddin is known to be one of the most powerful criminal politicians in India. The four-time Member of Parliament from Siwan in Bihar, Shahabuddin is currently serving a life sentence for kidnapping with the motive of murder. Shahabuddin is charged with over thirty criminal charges which include eight murders, about twenty attempts to murder, also kidnapping, extortion and others. For four successive terms Shahabuddin was elected in the Indian parliament, from 1996 to 2008. He wasn’t permitted to contest in 2009 general elections because he was convicted.
3 Georges D’anthes
Georges D’anthes is the 19th century French Senator. D’anthes was charged with murder much before he entered politics, when he was a French military officer. He earned popularity for killing Russia’s greatest poet, Alexander Pushkin in a duel in 1837. He was imprisoned, as dueling was illegal in Russia but was later pardoned by the Emperor. He was made to leave the force and then he became a successful politician in France.
