2. South Korea:

South Korea bags the second ranks for the country with the highest suicide rates. It is an Asian country having the highest suicide rate among the 30 OECD countries. The toll of suicide rate has doubled in the last one decade. In South Korea, suicide is most commonly found under the age group of 40 years. It is also more prevalent in the older age group in which two thirds are males. Many famous personalities of South Korea have taken their own life including Former President Roh Moo-hyun, millionaires, pop singers, actors and sportspersons. The most common method employed for suicide in this country is by poisoning or hanging. Economic difficulties, unemployment and family problems are some of the main causes for committing suicide in South Korea.

3. Lithuania:
Lithuania, a newly formed country separated from the Soviet Union in 1990’s has got a disrespectful title for the country, having one of the highest suicide rates and ranked 3rd in the World Health Organization’s list. This country has witnessed a two-fold increase in  suicides over the last ten years mainly due to social and financial problems. The masses feel that the government does nothing to curb the rate of this deadly epidemic of suicide. According to WHO, 34 out of every 100,000 people had taken their own lives and around 1500 people in Lithuania commit suicide every year.
