10 Costliest Cities for Expats


Bangalore: In a technologically advanced global world, employees working for multinational companies often land up in a foreign land. As such, companies will have to bear huge expenses as an allowance to make sure that the employee has a sufficient amount during their stay. To avoid huge expenses, ECA International, a global management consulting firm, carries out a survey called Cost of Living Surveys annually. This survey helps multinational companies analyze their allowances based on prices of various day-to-day goods and services. Based on this survey, ECA International has recently listed 10 costliest cities for foreigners in the world as listed by rediiff.com:-

1. Oslo:

A Norwegian capital city Oslo tops the list of the world’s costliest cities for foreigners and has outranked Tokyo for the first time in three years. This country ranked as the most expensive place owing to high production and also high taxes on alcohol and cigarettes, high rate of movie ticket, can of soda, a dozen egg and beer at a cost of $18.76, $3.43, $8.39 and $14.10 respectively.

2. Luanda:

Luanda, the capital city of Angola, takes the second rank. It ranked fourth the previous year   on the list of most expensive places for expats given by ECA International. Movie tickets, a can of soda, 1 dozen  eggs and beer at the bar cost $13.89, $1.00, $5.26 and $8.14 respectively.
