7. Pondicherry:

Pondicherry, the union territory with only 12 lakh population is one of the place in India where women literacy rate are very much high. It is the only union territory having a gender ratio above 1000, which makes it the second best region in India in terms of female to male ratio. Literacy has considerably increased in the last decade in both genders. The overall literacy rate of this region is 86.55, out of which 81.2 percent women are literate.

6. Daman and Diu:

With around 2000 people living per square kilometer of area, Daman and Diu regions are densely populated. Because of its proximity to the Arabian Sea on one side and Indian land on the other, they have a mixed culture which is influenced by Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. The literacy rate in these regions has witnessed an increasing trend with 87.10 percent. Of which, male literacy rate are 91.54 percent while female literacy at 79.6 percent.
