Details: The Smallpox Hospital that is often known as the Renwick Smallpox Hospital is an abandoned building located on Roosevelt Island, New York City. This abandoned structure is of three-storied, nine-bay U-shaped and has some distinctive features like mansard roofs, granite veneer and corbelled parapets. The hospital beds of this building were once filled with quarantined immigrants who were suffering from the grisly disease. However, a restoration project of $4.5 million is going on which is expected to reopen Renwick this year.

And the mystery is still unsolved. Earlier, this Chapel was a Roman Catholic Church but is now used as a museum and for wedding purposes.
