Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
There are four of us in my family. My mom, dad and a younger brother. My mom is a housewife and also helps my dad with his business at times. My brother graduated as an IT Engineer. Worked with an MNC for a year and half and then joined my dad in his business.
Plans for the Future
As i help my dad with his family business as and when time permits. I would be helping him expand while continuing with my career in IT as well. I see myself as an independent consutant in 3 years down the line.
Changes in the industry
Yes, it has. Initially Manual testing was more predominent among the IT firms for testing purposes. But with growing demands and needs from client side and the requirement to make the application bug free before the actual release has tended to more of Automation and performance related testing.
A Fine Balance:
As a senior software engineer, i am required to cater to clients request and make sure my team co-ordinates with the same. I am also required to frequently travel to various client locations on project to project basis. When i am in my hometown, i make sure i cater to my family as well as profession
Required Reading
Most of my career in QA domain has essentially come out from my on the job training as such. What i can recommend is when your testing a particular application, think from the end point view. Think from a clients perspective as well as concentrate more on breaking the system as much as possible.
The Journey So Far
its been a real good journey so far. Have learnt and evolved a lot from my seniors, project leads as well as clients. They have been very inspiring and helpful throughout.
Faced a lots of chanllenges as well as time pressure. But once you meet the deadline and deliver sucessfully, its a good feeling
Role Model
My Role model would be 'Sachin Tendulkar' of course. He is a true legend who is very very consistent with his performance and yet a very humble and down to earth. He beleives and thanks god after his every century. Some people may not be able to handle suceess like how sachin does. He is a true hero
Tech trends to watch out for
Right now i am trying to grasp knowledge and exposure to Automation and performance testing. Once i have worked on them, it will really help me lead or manage a larger project that involves manual, automation and performance testing together or simultaneously across different projects.
Most Important Lessons
One thing i have learnt is try not to push your work until later because your stuck there. Get help if required. Its nothing to be ashamed of. Second, if you know how to do certain things even if its not in your basket of tasks, pls do it if time permits and keep the concerned person informed.
Essential Advice
active participation, speak out during meetings, Raise clarifications a lot. Learn the domain as well as technology while your still fresh.
