Family Background
My father is a retired HR & IR Professional. My mother retired from the position of Vice-principal at a Delhi -based school. My brother is working at a leading IT Company and is currently based at Switzerland.
Job Profile:
I am a faculty in management. I was given the opportunity of leading the School of Management Studies for an year as Asst. Dean. I was academically and administratively responsible for the smooth running of the School. Developing and implementing curriculum of innovative programmes, managing the faculty aspirations and student problems were key responsibilities.
Contribution to the field
I initiated a research-oriented environment in the department by launching the first International Journal of the University, conducting a National and International Conference, motivating the faculty to write research papers and introduced a topical, quarterly newsletter, De-Facto. All these were missing at the Institution earlier.
Secondly, my focus was on enhancing student employability and for this I introduced live projects and special non-credit classes in the curriculum for the students.
Plans For The Future:
I would have written a couple of books in my area and launched them grandly.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
Professionalism is conspicuous by its absence. Competence has less of value. The careers of the faculty are at the discretion of the management.
Career Profile:
I was more as a faculty earlier, now it is a very strong administrative role, running the entire Management school with students, faculty and staff to lead....
Done Differently:
I would have been more focused and managed my time more effectively.
The Journey So Far:
It has been a great learning experience of more than 7 years in various profiles. Have had opportunity to contribute to the organization and be part of its growth.
Degrees That Matter:
PhD
Other Thoughts:
I think whichever industry and department we get into , giving more than 100 percent to our job only is the way to survive and succeed..
Prized Accomplishment(s):
35 research papers in an academic career of 5 years; gold medal for topping University during Post-graduation
Role Model:
Amitabh Bachchan. They way he has handled the ups and downs in his life is amazing. At this age also, he gives all his co-stars a run for their money..Hats off to him. He is hardworking and devoted to his profession - there are so many things to learn from him.
The Decisions That Matter
Switch from Academics to Industry; from marketing to HR
