Changes in the industry
QA/Testing industry is delivering quality. So, adopting changes happens gradually. Now in Industry automation testing is also focused more. There are several tools and demand for specialized people is goes on increasing. Apart from this process of testing is well organized and it really helps.
Current and Previous Responsibilities
In my current profile i got exposure to oracle database testing which i have not got before. Also in my current company we follow various processes for testing like build notifications ,acceptance,reporting which streamlines the testing process. I learned new aspects of testing processes this phase.
The Journey So Far
well, after completing B.E. in Computers from Mumbai University i joined SNS technologies in Pune as software Test Engineer in Jan-10.
SNS gives me opportunity to work on different domain such as Healthcare, Automobile, Client-Server,then i joined Cybage software and working QA engineer from jan-12.
Most Important Lessons
As a proficient tester, you should gain excellent domain knowledge. You should have balanced communication with developers Business Analyst as well as customers.As new things coming up,i learned to prioritize things in well timely manner. I cannot compromise on Technical as well as soft skills.
A Fine Balance:
This is the question on which everyone has to find its own solution else it will disturb your personal life. Till the time i have not faced this situation but as you grow in organization pressure will come up and that will test your management have to draw some boundary in work and home.
Degrees that Matter
Yes.certainly, i did ISTQB foundation level certification which is basic for testing. It helps me lot to clear basic concept of testing .It also give you some thumb rules to be followed for each domain over every project for creating test plan,Test scenarios,Test cases.I am planning to do QTP certi.
Most Important Decisions
Career decisions not only include join a good company it also includes getting good projects. In SNS technologies i got good exposure to all testing aspects in different domain with various clients.It gave me confidence as a tester.In Cybage as a CMMI-5 level company i come across various processses
Essential Advice
My advice to beginners are Study the domain well,involve in the processes right from the start. There are lot of blogs which are open to help so that you can grow your knowledge.If possible do certifications related with QA so that you will get good ,trustworthy knowledge which you can update always
Currently working at
I am working as QA engineer in Cybage Software,Pune.I am working on project "Travelclick" related with travel and Hospitality domain. It is briefly intranet and extra net which maintains bookings,campaigning, invoicing for different brand of hotels.
Role: Test case writing execution Defect reporting
Areas for the Future
There are lots of areas where testing is really important. Products which includes security testing are one of the best example of it. Also, i would say in complex banking & insurance processes where testing really matters .Testing process of Credit cards is challenge as increase cyber crimes.
Plans for the Future
As i am working in CMMI-5 level company i am getting good exposure to processes in testing.Also, i am perusing MBA from SMU. I am increasing my technical and soft skills.
If i get good opportunities i will grow well in QA industry at a lead position after few years.
