Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
My father, a Civil Engineer by profession, belongs to a small village in Saharsa District of Bihar and my mother, a homemaker, is from Mahoba District in Uttar Pradesh (UP). My husband is in the Armed Forces and belongs to Aligarh (UP). I have one son who is studying in class XI.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
In the year 2005,when the company decided to diversify into manufacturing of water based dredging equipment,I was made the Project Manager, primarily due to my track record of handling tough assignments.The nascent company met with success and I moved on to become the Executive Director.
Required Reading:
Daily reading of the newspaper to keep yourself updated with government initiatives and tenders, "The Economist" for higher level perceptions about the affairs of the world and reading of technical books/websites to keep abreast of cutting edge technology.
Working Life Management:
By proper planning and not carrying work home.
Degrees That Matter:
An Engineering graduate, preferably in Mechanical with experience in managing people and resources.
Plans For The Future:
My experience in cleaning of shallow water bodies prompted me to enroll for PhD programme in Water Quality Management. Two years down the line after completing my PhD, I may explore the possibility of becoming an Independent Consultant.
Growth Strategy:
I have always invested a portion of my earning towards upgrading my skills. I am currently pursuing part- time PhD in "Water Quality Management" from TERI University.
Other Thoughts:
Choose a career that you are passionate about and you are sure to succeed.
The Journey So Far:
Despite my husband being in a transferable job, my journey in the corporate world has been gratifying. The management was always considerate and my effort has always been rewarded.
