Brief description about me
I am from Giridih, Jharkhand. I am currently pursuing an MBA course from NITIE, Mumbai. Previous to this I have worked as Software Engineer in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. for around 2 years. I have done my engineering in Computer Science from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar.
Important career decisions
I joined TCS Ltd. from the placement process of my college. Though I was comfortable with the work their, it lacked enough challenges. So after gaining a good experience about the corporate culture,I decided to go for management. The idea was to learn more about the business environment and utilize myself better in this field.
Degree that matters
Degrees and Certifications are important as they look good in your resumes and helps build better career. I think more importance should be given to the underlying learning that is involved with them. Also as there are lots of these are prevalent today, effort should be given in choosing the appropriate ones.
For software engineer field, various certifications such as SCJP, Oracle DBA Certification, etc. These all depend on the type of technology one is involved in and want to be associated with.
For management field, again depending upon the line of interest like for finance CFA, FRM, etc.

Prospective toward freshers
The most important assets of a company are its people. So selection of right persons should be given the utmost importance. The company should focus on finding the right persons who may not necessarily be the best one.
Company hires freshers in a way to mold and groom them from into their work culture. People with prior work experiences come with their own preconceived notions and biases which might not be conforming to the existing practices of the organizations. In fact few companies favor hiring freshers and then developing them into the leaders of their organization e.g. P&G

My strongest skills
Few of my strengths are having good analytic skill, quick learning and initiative taking abilities.

My goal
For the few coming years, after completion of my mba program, I would like to work in an organization helping it grow in its desired path and thereby learning as much as I can.
Family background
I belong to a middle class family. My father is a businessman and my mother is a housewife. We are three sisters and one brother. My eldest sister is married and doing her B.Ed. program. My younger sister is pursuing CA (Chartered Accountant).
My achievements
Getting into NITIE is one of the achievements that I am proud of. Apart from that, I believe most of the things are yet to come in my life for which I should be preparing.

Advice to young people
One thing which I would like to advice people, is don't try to fit in any one's shoes, instead try to create to your place and your own path. Pay heed to the advice and suggestions of others and use them in your decisions, instead of directly following them. Learn as much as you can not thinking about its not your job, so why should you do it.

My view towards India technical developments
Yes, India do have a very large technical pool, but we have to understand the nature of this population. A significant portion of the these talent is just driven by masses that does not give much value to the job they are into. Most of the people are looking for the job related to their field and getting satisfied with it.

What we lack is the innovation with this technical talent. We need a proper mechanism to foster and channelize these talent into thinking new and promote a balanced risk taking. While we do find various innovative ideas from the engineering graduates during their college period, it tends to sulk when we join an industry. That transformation is due to various factors ranging from people (personal and professional), culture, money, etc. We do need to device to cease this transformation.
