My role model
"Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
.............Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection"
It is from Rabindranath Tagore's "Gitanjali". Yes, he is my idol, he is my role model. Rabindranath Tagore is himself an institution. He contributed in every sphere of life and every aspect of literature. He is the first non-European to win the Noble Prize, Tagore is one of the greatest intellectuals and social thinkers India has ever produced. He won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1913. After that, hundred years have passed away, still we could not get the Nobel prize in literature.
I always honor his keen intellectual. When I lose my tenacity, his poems give me strength to go ahead.
Degree that I recommend
I am a graduate in English and have a diploma in computer management . However, I never think that a master or other valuable degrees can help me to be a poet, author or a journalist if I have no keen intelligence or a nose for news. I think, I should be updated myself at every moment. Sometimes experience works better than academic qualification.
Brief description about me
I am a journalist, at the same time I am a poet and an author. Sometimes I live in the real world and sometimes live in the world of fantasy. I have already spent 25 years in the print and electronic media. My career was not so smooth. I got a chance to study engineering , but my aim was to be a journalist, to fight against illiteracy, corruption and other social injustice. I had a deep belief on the power of pen. As a district correspondent of a Bengali newspaper, I started my journey towards my aim. Then I got the post of a special correspondent of an English daily. After few years, I got the post of a state correspondent of a Bengali newspaper from Tripura.
In 2000, I joined a journalism institution as the chief faculty and started teaching my students what I gathered from the practical field. In 2008 I switched over from print media to electronic media and joined a Bengali satellite channel as the news editor and in 2013 I started an online literary site. Meanwhile I started writi
My family background
I am from a poor family. My father Ajit Kumar Ghosh was a dramatist and social activist. He tried to change the society by his writings, but failed. My mother was an ordinary homemaker. However, both of them gave me a mental strength to fight against all disfavor to reach my goal. Their blessings help me to go ahead. I was born in 1966 at Barabainan village in West Bengal.
Important lesson learned
Believe in the power of love, unity, integrity and tenacity. You must harm none and must keep your heart open and act from love instead of react from fear. Life is a challenge, accept it. If you want to be a successful person you should follow these lines from the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling.
"If you dream and not make your dreams your master
If you can think and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;"
Initiative to develop a country
The professionals do on their own to help India become a developed country. In democracy, no one depends on any one but the country depends on its citizens. In developed countries the country is represented by the people which shows that country is developed. . What is needed a sincere contribution from every professional to be seen as developed.
But at first we have to stop direct or indirect brain-draining. Brain Drain is nothing but the immigration of intelligent and talented people in search of better opportunities. Most people have their own thoughts and reasons for draining their brain. The professionals must go abroad to gather degrees, better higher education. But, they should think first that they will use their knowledge and skill for the development of their own country.
Important decision
The most important decision I have made to switch over from service to self-employment.
Ensuring success
Yes, I am confident that I will touch the peak. I am not such a man who only spends his whole life behind money or power; I have a lot of work to do for the sake of literature and journalism. I have to proof, I was born to achieve. I hope my news agency will be larger day by day.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
The first quality of effective leadership is the ability to focuses on strengths. The most important and respected leadership quality is integrity. It is the most required and most admired quality of all people, but especially of the effective leader. Trust is the quality that binds all relationships together. Perhaps the most important skill a leader needs is to be able to think strategically. Good leaders tend to be extremely good listeners, able to listen actively. A good leader must have a strong management skill.
Couple of years from now
I want to represent India as a poet. I want to see myself as a poet loved by the world. This is not an outburst of emotion. I am preparing myself to compete with other.
My strongest skill
Integrity, tenacity and a strong management skill, at the same time, creativity.
More about myself
I can just say to follow the lines from the poem "If"
"If you can keep your head cool when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you."
My achievements
I am proud that my recent poetry books have touched the hearts of people throughout the world.
Influenced by
It was my mother who had influenced me most. When all guardians want to see their son as an engineer, a doctor, or a government employee, she just wanted to see me as a writer.
She published my first book with her very small deposit when I was a student of Class twelve.
She told me, "Never leave your aim in the mid-way. You have to suffer to reach the goal, but you never lose your tenacity." And the other person whose influence help me to go ahead, she is my beloved. She is like a lamp in my life. Without her help, I could not hold my tenacity.
