Brief description about me
I belong to Kashmir. Currently, based in New Delhi I am working with Indian Express as Sub-Editor. I have obtained a degree in journalism from Amity University, Rajasthan. Since, 2004 i  have worked in many news Dailies as a reporter, sub-editor and columnist.

Important Career decision
I had joined NIT, Srinagar in B.E Electronics but, soon realized i that my heart lied somewhere else and i went to pursue my studies in Mass Communication. I left engineering after one year although, this decision was taken in dilemma but, now feel i was right in taking this decision and following my heart.

Degree that matters
A course in Journalism and Mass Communication is must. But, if you have any of the following degree it will surely help.
M.A. Political Science.
M.A. English Literature.
Specialized courses like M.A. International Relations or Media Studies, Diploma in Photojournalism are also beneficial.

Prospective towards frashers
Mostly, fresher comes with a lot of energy, passion and world winning attitude. A company will only add to its resources if it taps that energy and knows how to make good of this resource. In fact, they are actually safe guarding their own future by helping a future to build a career with them together.

Strongest skill
Investigative Reporting.

Video editing tools like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premeir, Canapus.

My role model
Robert Fisk has always been a role model when it comes to reporting. His bold and stark reports on Bosnain and Middle East conflicts has inspired me a lot. I have also been influenced by the works of Noam Chomsky, Soch Kral (Kashmiri Poet) and Allama Iqbal.

Upcoming trends
The emergence of New Media especially Social Media can alter a lot. Besides a run from the Mainstream to Alternate Media is also taking place.

My goal
Working on my book based on the life of a journalist, maintaining his social and professional integrity.
Publishing my research work on International Conflict Resolution.

Advice from elders
All the advice i received so far have been instrumental in helping me gain experience over a these years. And, it is hard to choose a particular one because they have all been helpful in one way or the other.

Advice to students
Focus and passion. Do what you can do best. Most important never hesitate to follow your Heart and Insha Allah you will be successful.

My point of view
As we all know that the constitution of India is adopted from various western countries as such how can we dream that people can do something on their own. Indians need everything in platter. Recently, I read an article about 'Aakash tab', the story said it is manufactured in India but only the next day a leading daily carried the same story with an additional input that the product parts were imported from china and only assembled in India. If this continues we are doing no good. If Indians can make USA a technically powerful country why cannot they do the same for their own country. The only thing is if you provide the engineers the needed avenues definitely India could also produce its own  'Mango' if not 'Apple'.
