Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I come from a middle class family in India and married into one. I am one of 4 siblings. My parents made sure we had good education, and so today I am a post graduate with a Masters in Financial Managment. I am a mother of two boys, and currently located in Australia.
Done Differently:
I might have pursed my Masters degree earlier in life, than later, if I could. But seeing how things went, though they may not all be the best of the happenings, it is part of me being me and I would not like to change that.
Growth Strategy:
I keep abreast with the changes, I have continued to study, to be a Certified Practicing Accountant in Australia, be part of the CPA body, which has various programs to keep its members up to date with the regular and irregular changes that come about.
Job Profile:
I have 3 different roles in the organisation I work for, which is the Mackay Deanery, which comes under the Diocese of Rockhampton. I am the Adult Faith Coordinator for the Deanery, the Parish Secretary of St Francis Xavier Parish and also their Finance Officer.
Working Life Management:
Yes, I am able to do I need for my family, and spend time with my sons, getting them to do their school work and entertainments. Some of my work also allows us to spend family quality time.
Role Model:
Any woman, who has achieved something in life is an inspiration to me. I cannot say I have a role model because I believe in making my own path, and treading on new grass. I want to be myself, not somebody else. This allows me to be fearless of my challenges.
Advice For New Professionals:
I guess, the attitude one has about themselves and the world around them is very important. There is always a solution for any problem, not everyone is looking for it, they who are problem finders will never see the solutions, solution finders only see opportunities.
The Decisions That Matter
The biggest career decision I made was to go back and pursue my Masters and coming to Australia. I have a global perspective now.
