Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I am from the town Khurda, 16 kms from Bhubaneswar (state capital of Orissa). I am married (love-cum-arrange) to Manjusha and currently have 1 year old girl (Veda). My parents (retired father, homemaker mother) live in Khurda. My elder brother (IAF) is married and have 5 year old son.
Plans for the Future
As currently I am in USA, I am looking forward to settle back in India in couple of years. I belong to IT industry and working for a successful career both at work and home.
Role Model
My role model is my father (like most of you). Looking at him all these years, I learned the art of calmness, responsibility, ownership, etc. I learned to enjoy life with what we have than worry looking on what others have. I learned on how to manage a happy family and value of education of children
Essential Advice
Choosing a career is a vital step in one's career path. This domain is one of the important part of overall software development life cycle as it determines the quality of the product to be used by the world. In the end, always love the work that you do than like (as in Facebook) the work.
Changes in the industry
There is a huge change since I look at the industry (2003 - Till date). The industry has become more aggressive and challenging than ever. The demand and expectation of the customers has increased by several folds. More demanding with expectation of same quality standards with less clock ticks.
Most Important Lessons
Always mind your own business. Strive to climb the success ladder but help others too. Sharing knowledge will always increase your success ratio. Pat your back on achievements as there won't be someone at all times to do so. Create opportunities and strengthen yourself to face negative vibes.
The Journey So Far
My journey started as a faculty at my home town with a monthly remuneration of INR 500 in 2001. Gradually I moved into IT industry (mainframes) after my masters (MCA). Since then I worked in Infosys, ITC Infotech and settled in my dream company, IBM. I was settled in Bangalore but currently in USA.
Currently working at
As I work at client location in USA, my job profile includes interfacing with customers, participating client meetings, managing my team and coordination between clients and offshore team. We provide round the clock support for customers. As I support the HRMS system, several restrictions applies.
