Spacetech startup Sisir Radar has raised $1.5 Million in its seed funding. The firm from Kolkata, which says it has constructed the first drone-borne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system in India, will use the new funding to improve its manufacturing and research and development (R&D) capacities. By the end of 2026, it hopes to deploy the highest resolution L-band SAR satellite in the world.
Innovative SAR systems for airborne and spaceborne platforms operating in P/L/S/C/X satellite frequency bands have been developed by Sisir Radar, which was founded in 2022 by Tapan Misra, a former director of the Space Applications Centre (SAC) at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Soumya Misra, and Urmi Bhambhani.
Furthermore, Sisir Radar has created ground penetrating radar (GPR) system that may be utilized for bomb detection and infrastructure monitoring. It employs radar pulses to produce high-resolution 2D and 3D photographs of subsurface structures. Additionally, the firm provides hyperspectral imaging solutions via drone.
Soumya Misra, Co-Founder and CEO, Sisir Radar said, “We are building world-class earth observation solutions to make India self-reliant and establish it as a global provider of high-resolution satellite imagery”.
