Funding News: Aviation-Tech Startup 'Astrogate Labs' lifts $1.3 million Pre-series Fund
Startup: Astrogate Labs
Founders: Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty
About us: Astrogate Labs provides end-to-end laser communication systems for secure high-speed connectivity across terrestrial and space applications. Their mature technology and laser-comm. products in a SWaP (size, weight and power) compatible for cube/nanosats allows for a secure, long-distance wireless communications in space-to-ground and space-to-space links.
Founded Year: 2017
Office: Bengaluru
Sector: Aviation-Tech
Funding round: Pre-Series
Investor: The Piper Serica Angel Fund
The Piper Serica Angel Fund is leading the $1.3 million pre-series investment round for spacetech firm Astrogate Labs.
The money raised will be utilized to increase operations, improve collaborations with space agencies and defense groups, and expedite the development of its laser communication terminals for space and other use cases in terrestrial and aerial applications.
Astrogate Labs, which was founded by Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty, offers technology to enhance data downlink for tiny satellite constellations, enabling them to send data to the ground more effectively.
By 2030, it is anticipated that there will be more than 25,000 tiny satellites in orbit, placing significant strain on existing radio frequency systems due to spectrum congestion and bandwidth constraints. According to Astrogate, their laser communication technologies offer a scalable substitute for safe, high-speed data transfer of up to 10 Gbps.
