Where Are Google's First 21 Employees?


Bangalore: Google celebrated its 15th birthday on September 7th 2013. One of the most favorite employee destinations, the internet giant was the first employer of many talents including Marissa Mayer, Yahoo’s current CEO.

Out of the 21 employees who were present initially, many became entrepreneurs, angel investors while some others opted retirement. Here is a list about those people who were employed in the company as a start-up and their sphere of work now, based on a thread by Quora.

Employee No 21:  Marissa Mayer

Employed from: June 1999 – July 2012

Position Served: VP, Local, Maps & Location Services

Present Company/position: CEO, Yahoo

Mayer joined the company as software engineer. Known as the ‘Googirl,’ she served the search giant for 13 years before leaving it for Yahoo’s top executive chair in 2012.

Employee No 20: Kendra DiGirolamo

Employed from: June 1999 - May 2001

Position Served: Advertising Sales Coordinator

Present Company/position: Business Analyst, Driscoll's

She was employed in Google for 2 years and is currently working as Business Analyst for Driscoll, a California-based producer of fresh berries.
