Sean Parker's Big Fat Geek Wedding Got Slapped With $2.5 Million Fine

Bangalore: True to the infamous extravaganza often depicted by media, Sean Parker, the first president of Facebook and founder of Napster, a billionaire, spent $10 million on his big fat geek wedding with singer-songwriter Alexandra Lenas on Saturday with gowns and sets made by a designer for the “Lord of the Rings” films. The wedding which took place at California’s Big Sur, famous for its ravines and ridges, impressed top most designers from Hollywood; but failed to impress state officials, who fined him $2.5 million.

California State officials were tipped that Parker had built a cottage, fake ruins, waterfalls, staircases and a huge dance floor in an ecologically sensitive area near iconic redwoods and a stream with endangered steelhead trout without proper permit. The construction occurred at a campground that was closed, reports First Post.

Parker apparently got permission from the owner of the property, but he didn't get the required clearances from The California Coastal Commission which regulates the sensitive coastal area.

The commission said the settlement money will be used to purchase public easements and hiking trails and as grants for coastal conservation nonprofits. It also asked Parker to make and distribute a public video or an app that aims at helping to identify areas where the public can access the coast. Parker, in a press statement said that he’s excited to support conservation-related projects.

In addition to it, Parker also asked his guests, who were wealthy entrepreneurs and celebrities, to donate to Save the Redwoods or the California League of Conservation Voters. So all’s well that ends well.
